Pres. Obama Praises Ronald Reagan

I kid you not. If you needed any further proof that that "conservative" icon, Saint Ronald of Reagan was nothing of the kind, then here it is. Why would the former community organizer, friend of extreme leftists, and the senator with the most liberal voting record be doing this? We expect the usual assortment of "conservative" pundits and politicians to be digging up the mouldering carcass to fellate the withered old cock, but for Barack Obama to be getting in line? It's not simply a case of being gracious either.

President Reagan helped as much as any president to restore a sense of optimism in our country, a spirit that transcended politics - that transcended even the most heated arguments of the day. [...]

I think Ronald Reagan changed the trajectory of America in a way that Richard Nixon did not and in a way that Bill Clinton did not. He put us on a fundamentally different path because the country was ready for it.

-- Barack Obama

Utter bullshit! Ronald Reagan never "transcended politics", and his "Reagan Revolution" never happened. For those eight years, it was nothing more than politics as usual. Why wouldn't Obama praise Reagan and do his part to keep the Reagan myth alive and well? They both have something in common here: Federal spending and the deficit both went up during their terms of office. "Entitlements" increased, and the gov't bureaucracy got bigger and more intrusive. The only meaningful difference is that Obama is doing more of it, and doing it faster. Reagan was never anything more than yet another "Democrat-Lite". All part of the neo-"con" scam to make us think that our votes make a difference.

One neo-"con" poseur prasising another neo-"con" poseur: WHAT A SURPRISE!

Hmm... I'm mixed with feelings on Reagan. So I do understand the "Democrat-Lite" position you have. His bad/good percent for the US I wanna say was about 50%. However, I do understand the guise that the "Reagan Democrats" have woven for themselves and it ain't nothing like a Dem-Lite execpt for the exterrior. =+{

Today, Newsmax (a "conservative" outlet co-founded by Richard Mellon Schaife) ran this article today: Laura Bush: George Won't Second-Guess Obama.

Laura Bush told ABC's “Good Morning America” today that husband George W. Bush “as a former president owes President Obama his silence on issues, and that there's no reason to second guess any decisions that he makes."

Bush has not given any public interviews or commented critically on the new administration since leaving office in January.

No reason to second guess any decisions he makes -- of course not. For all intents and purposes, the Obama I administration is no different than a Bush III administration would be. Why would one neo-"con" criticize another neo-"con"?
